The best way to explain the vision behind the Metro Soccer Club is to listen to the words of our founding coach, Massimo Pauri:
"To me, when you talk about an idea, you talk about something that is very material and very human, something that is very reachable and quite normal. However, when you talk about a vision, you talk about something that is big and divine, hard to reach and most people, due to human nature, at first do not trust or see.
Metro Soccer Club sees the possibility of building the best soccer club in North Texas; a club that one day will be regarded as the best club in the area to play for. We would like to build a club that does not belong to a single person, but a club that belongs to the community it serves.
Obviously, in building a soccer club, our main responsibility is to develop soccer players to the best of their abilities, but is that enough? We do not think so.
A club, by definition, is an organization in which people come together and participate in activities that involve its members. This simple definition is sufficient when the members are adults, but the moment that children are involved, the responsibilities change a bit. A good youth club must provide an environment that is well suited to them, but also has a family atmosphere. We believe that this club should not only be about soccer, but also about developing the "whole" child not only physically, but emotionally, intellectually, and socially as well. Most definitely, the longer our children are a part of something good, the more opportunity we have to make a positive impact on them.
So the question again is very simple: is a soccer club just about soccer?
Soccer is the common vehicle we use to reach our ultimate goal: to prepare our players to be winners, not only on the soccer field, but also in life.
Metro believes that a competitive club whose true intentions are to develop players on and off the field, must establish a close relationship with its communitys recreational soccer association, because that is where the players interest in soccer begins, and with its school district where they will eventually represent their communitys high school soccer team. By developing a single direct line of teaching at all levels, players will benefit greatly - same friends, same community, same message.
Metro Soccer Club also strives to present its players with strong role models both on and off the field, as this has a great effect on our children.
It is very important for youths to explore the friendships they make on the soccer field. Metro knows the importance of these bonds and has an activities program in place to encourage and enable teams to expand their influence outside the soccer environment. Through outings and other fun activities off the field, they can develop not only as teammates, but as friends.
Metro believes that a club should also be involved with their community. By participating in charitable events and community drives, many positive and valuable lessons can be learned.
This is what we think a youth club should be."
